American Idol winner of 2009, Kris Allen is set to return with his new single “The Vision of Love” via iTunes and all digital providers on March 26th. “The Vision Of Love” was co written by written by Kris Allen, Nasri and Adam Messinger, the writer/production team known as The Messengers, Penning smashes for Chris Brown and Justin Bieber. This is his first work as a recording artist since winning the American Idol title in 2009 and releasing his self-titled debut album. “Winning Idol was such a whirlwind experience – I went into the studio immediately following the show to record my very first album. So, going into the studio this time around was such a different experience, and it really offered me time to hone my craft and create something that really represents who I am as a musician. I was lucky enough to work with such a talented team of top-notch collaborators. EW caught up with American Idol season 8 winner Kris Allen on the Trevor Live red carpet this weekend, and the singer told us that he is hard at work on his second album, a follow-up to his 2009 self-titled release. “We’ve moved past the writing process mostly and have moved onto the recording portion,” Allen says. “I’ve been working a lot with Tim Pagnotta, who produced and wrote some of the last Neon Trees album.” The singer says that he’s particularly excited about a new track called “Out Alive,” which he believes “has possible single potential,” though it’s too soon to tell. |

merican Idol champ Kris Allen has teamed up with the Music Empowers Foundation charity for a new endeavor that will help keep music education in public schools. Allen and the foundation will work with the website DonorsChoose.org, which provides a platform for individual donors to choose charities in need of support. The Music Empowers Foundation will match any donations given by individual donors on the site and the funds will be used to bring music supplies to over 10,000 students in need. “We are thrilled with the tremendous support of Kris Allen and the Music Empowers Foundation in helping teachers acquire the music supplies their students need to thrive,” says Charles Best, Founder and CEO of DonorsChoose.org. NEW YORK, Oct. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Blackbird Academy of Arts announced today the commencement of The Alchemy Songwriting Competition. The showcase will be presented by platinum recording artist and 2009 American Idol Winner, Kris Allen and is a songwriting contest and performance event designed to inspire musicians of all ages, while also raising awareness about the need for more affordable arts education. All proceeds from contest entry fees, event sponsorships and showcase finale ticket sales will go to benefit Blackbird Academy, an arts and music school in Conway, Arkansas. The Alchemy Songwriting Competition is open to songwriters ages 13 and over. Contestants will compete in one of two age group categories (13-17, and 18 & over) and numerous music genre categories including: Rock, Pop, R&B, Gospel/Christian, and Country. The Grand Prize winner will receive an all-expenses paid trip to Los Angeles and the chance to record their song in a professional studio with Grammy-winning producers Ryan Peterson and Nolan Sipe. According to Blackbird Academy, contest finalists will be invited to perform their songs at a gala showcase concert in Arkansas on December 3rd. At the gala, Kris Allen will serve as one of three celebrity judges who will give feedback to the finalists and determine a winner. Joining Mr. Allen will be Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and producer, David Hodges and Andy Davis, founder of Music Empowers Foundation, a national not-for-profit that provides funding for music and arts education. Mr. Allen is no stranger to advocating on behalf of music and arts education. Through partnerships with organizations like Music Empowers and DonorsChoose.org, he has helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for numerous projects and programs, including: Berklee City Music, Artists Corps of America, and Blackbird Academy of Arts. “Music and arts education is so vital to any person’s development and it has long been a cause that I hold close to my heart. I want to do whatever I can to make sure that as many folks as possible, both in Arkansas and across the country, have access to great programs like Blackbird’s,” says Kris Allen. “We are incredibly excited about this opportunity to showcase new songwriting talent.
